Boegbeeld vzw is an organization in contemporary circus arts since 2020 based in Oostende Belgium, producing the work of Camille Paycha, Ruben Mardulier, and now also Sofie Anny Nicea Velghe with the creation AFK . With a shared background in circus, they expand the frame of reference of what circus can be. As creators, they occupy a distinct position within the field. They make conceptual work with attention to accessibility and aim to combine a clear and challenging vision with openness to a broad audience.
Boegbeeld vzw reaches diverse audiences, both locally and internationally, and across various contexts such as festivals, theaters, museums, the street, and the internet. Boegbeeld does not start from a traditional circus structure, but rather as a collective of artists who together shape a new artistic landscape. Through Boegbeeld vzw, they create a platform where experimental circus works can flourish.
As an organization, with Soetkin Dewulf as chair of Boegbeeld, and Camille and Ruben, they curate events and parties. They have already curated events for MuZEE, Kaap, and VierNulVier.
